Sinn Féin MEP Liadh Ní Riada gave her support to Councillor Séamie Morris in his bid for election to the Dáil. Ní Riada was speaking after the Tipperary Sinn Féin selection convention in Cashel, where Morris was chosen as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming general election.
Liadh Ní Riada said:
“Séamie is a fantastic public representative and has served the people of Tipperary well, on Nenagh Town Council, on North Tipp County Council, and in his present role as Sinn Féin leader on Tipperary County Council.

Sinn Féin’s Liadh Ní Riada welcomed the announcement by CityJet of a new high-frequency service on the Cork to London City Airport route. The Ireland South MEP remarked that the the announcement is a strong endorsement of Cork Airport, and an indicator of the strategic importance of Cork as a transport hub for the region.
“The new CityJet service will come onstream on 1st October this year and will operate three times per day Monday to Friday, with service over the weekend as well. Speaking from Passage West today Sinn Féin MEP Liadh Ní Riada gave her backing to calls for the N28 Cork to Ringaskiddy road to be given priority status in the upcoming capital programme. The Sinn Féin MEP was in Passage West and Carrigaline for a number of engagements alongside the party’s Cork South Central general election candidate Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire.

Speaking from Brussels this afternoon Liadh Ní Riada strongly criticised the Spanish state for ongoing discrimination and attacks against users of indigenous and minority languages ahead of Spain’s appearance before the United Nations Human Rghts Committee. The Sinn Féin MEP also called on the European institutions and on states across Europe to protect and promote linguistic diversity and respect the rights of speakers of indigenous, minority and endangered languages.
